    I know exactly the ones you mean... They usually go on sliding doors or double-glazed windows. Thing is, they usualy don't have anything cut into the planes - IIRC, they're designed so that if you lose the key, you can still open the door / window / whatever with a regular Philips screwdriver.

    This maybe completely wrong but it does look pretty familiar.
    Can't hurt to check. Hell, it could even be that the keys you're talking about are just the cruciform blanks.

      I have a key similar to that (a little longer). It is used for the disk lock on my motorcycle.

        Turns out your are 100% correct. You can buy the (blank) keys in DIY stores I also found out.
        Congratulations on working out what I meant from teh piss poor description!
        Also the one i saw had 6 planes not 4.

        Next time I'll learn to keep my mouth shut I think.

          Looks like the key for some random brand safe which can be seen at office depot. Might be a sentry but Im not sure.
