I will try and find out what its called but Im not an expert, but they are the kind that are installed at the top and bottom of an external door to provide extra security, and turning it pushes a round bolt into the frame...I guess much like a normal lock...lol
I know exactly the ones you mean... They usually go on sliding doors or double-glazed windows. Thing is, they usualy don't have anything cut into the planes - IIRC, they're designed so that if you lose the key, you can still open the door / window / whatever with a regular Philips screwdriver.

Turns out your are 100% correct. You can buy the (blank) keys in DIY stores I also found out.

Also the one i saw had 6 planes not 4.
