I just moved here, and was wondering the same thing. Is there anything I can do to help? Also, I haven't found out if there's an active space here, so I'm thinking of starting one. There's plenty of candidates, however zoning laws are insane. I'd appreciate it if one of you could tell me if I'm duplicating someone's work, or if there's indeed no space here yet.

Re: What's the current status of DC702?

DC702 has been defunct for a number of year now. Many members detached and became "Vegas 2.0" when a will to actually accomplish something for the community wasn't shared by all. Eventually everyone moved away and as far as I know, the group has been dormant ever since.

I believe I'm the only person from the original group left in town (if not, sound off), and I'm extremely interested in starting something back up. PM me for contact info if you are too.

Hey, at least 5 unique usernames, maybe something can get started. :)
Does anyone have ideas about a space & time to set this up?

I know this post could potentially be deemed as "dead". I wanted to a least voice myself as another Las Vegan interested in a DC702 group.
I was apart of the STL2600 (when it existed) and now that I am out here, looking for another group.

Re: What's the current status of DC702?

I, for one, am still in vegas, and still looking to set something up.

The local 2600 group is semi-active, they meet the first Friday of every month, 7pm, at the Barnes & Noble on Maryland & Flamingo (just north of UNLV). you can check out #nv2600 on irc.2600.net and bug people there.

So, in terms of local community, there's that. I think it'd be nice to set up an actual hackerspace, though, although I'm not sure how one would go about doing that.

i'm kinda spending most of my time in 310 for now, i'd still like to see a vegas hackerspace get going. i found another couple of interested peeps over at adafruit for the electronics side of things.

Chalk up another Las Vegan who would love to see DC702 become active again.

There seems to be some substantial interest, so lets get the ball rolling, I've setup a wiki at dc702.pbworks.com for now, drop in and lets get this show on the road!

Once you all get a registration for DC702 on this page please let me know and I can then either activate the forum for DC702 to be live here, or point to a forum that you choose to run on your own site.

Information on changing ownership of a DCG can be found here.

                              Example quote:

A: Do to the sheer number of DCGs, it would be impossible for any Defcon staff member to monitor the acitivity of all the groups. If you attempt to contact the POC in your area and there is no response, please email dcgroups{ax}defcon[dot]org. At that point, we will attempt to contact the POC. If the POC fails to respond, within a reasonable amount of time, the group may be considered inactive and removed from the official list. You may also decide that you'd like to start your own DCG in your area if the organizer of the first group has been inactive for an extended period of time.
